A CALL FOR CREATIVES: A volunteer weekend filled with creativity and comaraderie
Need a break or an excuse to turn off the phone, but can only get away for a few days? Rejuvenate your spirit by getting back to basics, back to craft, back to nature during an unstructured immersive weekend retreat with a volunteer slant.
Seeking up to 10 people for each weekkend to have fun in the summer and to contribute to the Camp Wonder Wander facilities. Help create a campfire space, adorn the 5 acres with your art in some way - rock art secretly placed or markers for walking trail, create sitting areas for contemplation or a creative version of a 'photo spot', help paint murals or other adornment on exterior of several structures, and more ideas. If you aren't a 'creative' by trade, but want to rub shoulders for a fun weekend would love your volunteer help in tying knots for a rope railing marking the trail to the river, picking up kindling around the property to prepare for campfires and cooler temps.
Create a collaborative art piece to leave on the property - sculptures, banners, environmental art and other ideas welcome.
** Painting birdhouses, painting flag banners, lots of fun stuff to work on as a contribution to camp and nurture the inner creative spirit.
JULY 1-4 - GET OUT OF THE CITY AND CHAOS OF FIREWORKS AND BUSY HOLIDAY. VISIT THE COUNTRYSIDE, BRING YOUR BATHING SUIT TO TAKE A SWIM IN OR CANOE RIDE ON THE BUFFALO RIVER.
Lodging – This is a promotional weekend to show off the space to people in the area. The price covers your sleeping space (a twin bed typically in a shared room). Additional donations welcome once you have seen the space.
Food – potluck. Bring what you would like to contribute to the group meals. Alcohol is okay but if people get overly loud and obnoxious, Val reserves the right to cut you off from your own supply.
Donate an additional room fee for group food if you prefer. Please contact to discuss. On average, we can prepare a decent spread for $15-20 per person per day.
What to Bring?– comfortable casual clothes that could get dirty, rain gear just in case, durable shoes (no shoes inside so bring socks or slippers), flashlight, any art materials or equipment of your own to help in collecting wood/chopping firewood, fortifying fences, or creating art installations (work gloves, garden tools, etc.) as we only have supplies for one or two people as caretaker staff.
WHEN REGISTERING PLEASE GIVE US INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF IN THE COMMENTS SECTION OF PAYPAL.
FOOD DONATION – Please consider an extra reservation as a donation for the group food rather than bringing your own to contribute. Still should bring any special needs from special coffess or teas or drinks.
* The philosophy of the camp is grounded in healthy eating. Please no junk food, no soda, no big brand name snacks although gourment, organic, gluten-free etc snacks are much better for us and therefore acceptable.
