Graphic Design BOOTCAMP for creative teens
This is a creativity camp for teens interested in graphic design and other creative fields. Val will be your bootcamp instructor and design coach as she is adapting her college level coursework to give each participant an insight into graphic design elements, principles, and processes in a fun adventure filled version of Wonder 101 and Wander 101. Participants will be required to leave smartphones at home and learn techniques of engaging with the world around them including the others at the table whether it be during critiques or just socializing at mealtime.
Val brings her techniques developed over years in the classroom to this workshop that provides a safe space for teens to live and work together in a way that challenges their creative habits and expand their visual vocabulary. Only some of the work may require a laptop with Adobe software, but computers are not mandatory. The focus in this session is hands on skills that emphasize how one sees and solves problems - from drawing to collage to making stories and then binding the book. Val brings her experience as a girl scout leader and a professor to this session offering each participant individual attention. Her coaching sessions may include a q+a about applying to colleges, finding the right college fit, and more.
